Clariko ("we", "us", "the app") is developed and operated by STOVBUR IT. This policy explains what personal data Clariko collects, why, and what rights you have over it.

1. What we collect
Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and display name from Google Sign-In. We also store the profile details you choose to provide in the app: preferred language, user type (parent or student), school/institution language, grade, and preferred answer level.
Documents you scan. When you photograph a homework assignment, teacher message, or school announcement, the photo is uploaded and sent to our AI provider for analysis, then deleted immediately after processing completes — Clariko does not keep a copy of your photos. What we do keep is the result of that analysis (extracted text, translation, explanation, vocabulary, and similar derived content) linked to your account, so your scan history and saved vocabulary work correctly. This stays until you delete the specific item or delete your account.
Subscription information. If you purchase Premium, Google Play and our subscription-management provider (RevenueCat) share your entitlement status (active/expired, plan type) with us so the app can unlock the right features. We do not receive your payment card details — those are handled entirely by Google Play.
Usage and diagnostic data. We use Firebase Analytics to understand feature usage (e.g. when a scan completes, when the paywall is shown, when a purchase starts) and Sentry to capture technical error reports if the app crashes or something goes wrong. These do not include the content of your scanned documents.
2. How we use it
- To translate and explain the documents you scan, and generate the results you see on screen.
- To keep your scan history and vocabulary list available across sessions.
- To manage your subscription and unlock Premium features.
- To fix bugs, monitor app stability, and understand which features are actually used.
- To respond if you contact us for support.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use the content of your scanned documents for advertising.
3. Who we share data with
We use the following service providers (processors) to run Clariko. Each only receives the data it needs to do its job:
| Provider | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Google (Firebase Authentication) | Sign-in | Email, display name |
| Google (Gemini AI) | Document translation/analysis | Photo, temporarily, for processing only |
| Google Cloud Storage | Temporary holding of a photo during analysis | Photo, deleted right after processing |
| Google Play Billing | Processing subscription purchases | Purchase/entitlement status |
| RevenueCat | Subscription management | Entitlement status, purchase history |
| Firebase Analytics | Usage analytics | App events (not document content) |
| Sentry | Crash/error reporting | Technical error data, device/OS info |
We do not otherwise share your personal data with third parties, except where required by law.
4. Data retention
- Scanned photos: deleted automatically right after analysis completes — never stored long-term.
- Analysis results, history, and vocabulary: kept until you delete the individual item, or until you delete your account.
- Account deletion: you can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and all associated analyses, history, and vocabulary entries from our database.
5. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your data (see Section 4 — available directly in the app)
- Restrict or object to certain processing
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
To exercise any of these rights, contact support@clariko.org. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and may need to verify your identity first.
If you are in the European Economic Area or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA to know, delete, and opt out of the sale/sharing of personal information — we do not sell or share personal information as defined by that law.
6. Children's privacy
Clariko is intended for use by parents (on behalf of their children) and by students old enough to manage their own account. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children under 13 without parental involvement. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data without appropriate parental consent, contact support@clariko.org and we will delete it.
7. Data security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) between the app and our servers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information appropriately for the type of data involved.
8. International data transfers
Our infrastructure and service providers (Google Cloud, RevenueCat, Sentry) may process data in countries other than your own. Where this happens, we rely on those providers' own safeguards for international data transfers.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted in-app where practical.
